Spektt Showdowns — Official Contest Rules

Last Updated: May 2026

These Official Rules govern all contests and showdowns ("Contests") hosted on the Spektt mobile application ("Platform"), operated by Spektt ("Spektt", "we", "us", "our"), a company registered under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

By submitting an entry to any Contest on the Platform, you ("Entrant", "you") agree to be bound by these Official Rules and our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

No purchase necessary to enter or win. A purchase does not increase your odds of winning.

1. CONTEST TYPES

Spektt hosts two types of Contests:

(a) Pulse ContestsCommunity showdowns open to all registered users. Prizes consist of digital badges, XP points, medals, and platform recognition. No cash prizes are awarded.

(b) Premium ContestsShowdowns with cash prize pools. Premium Contests will state the exact prize amounts and specific eligibility requirements in the Contest listing on the Platform.

2. ELIGIBILITY

To enter any Contest on the Platform, you must:

(a) Be at least 18 years of age at the time of entry. Age is verified at account creation. Users identified as minors (under 18) are automatically ineligible to enter Contests.

(b) Be a registered user of the Spektt Platform with a complete, verified account.

(c) Not be a resident of, or physically located in, any of the following jurisdictions where online contests of this nature are prohibited or restricted by law:

  • Qatar
  • United Arab Emirates (UAE)
  • Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

(d) Not be an employee, officer, director, agent, or immediate family member (spouse, parent, sibling, child) or household member of Spektt, its affiliates, subsidiaries, or any prize sponsor.

(e) Not have been suspended or banned from the Spektt Platform at the time of entry.

Void where prohibited by law. Spektt reserves the right to verify eligibility at any time and disqualify any entry that does not meet these requirements.

3. CONTEST PERIOD

Each Contest has a specific entry period, voting period, and results date displayed in the Contest listing on the Platform. All times are stated in West Africa Time (WAT, UTC+1) unless otherwise specified. Spektt's system is the official timekeeping device.

4. HOW TO ENTER

(a) Download the Spektt app, create an account, and complete onboarding.

(b) Navigate to the Showdowns section and select an active Contest.

(c) Upload your original creative work (photo, video, or digital art) that meets the Contest category requirements and our Community Guidelines.

(d) Submit your entry before the entry deadline shown in the Contest listing.

Limit: ONE (1) entry per person per Contest, regardless of account type (Free or Pro). Submitting multiple entries will result in disqualification of all entries from that account.

5. ALTERNATIVE METHOD OF ENTRY (AMOE)

No purchase is necessary to enter. Free users who have reached their upload limit may request a free entry credit by emailing support@spektt.com with the subject line: "FREE ENTRY — [Contest Name]".

Free entry requests must be submitted before the entry deadline. One free entry credit per person per Contest. We will respond within 48 hours. Requests submitted after the deadline will not be honoured.

A Spektt Pro subscription provides additional uploads and features but does NOT increase your odds of winning. All entrants — Free and Pro — are limited to one (1) entry per Contest and are judged by the same criteria.

6. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND CONTENT STANDARDS

All entries must:

(a) Be your own original work. You must own all rights to the content submitted.

(b) Not contain nudity, explicit sexual content, graphic violence, or any content that violates our Community Guidelines.

(c) Not infringe any third-party copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights.

(d) Not include content that was created with the primary assistance of AI image or video generation tools, unless the specific Contest explicitly permits AI-assisted work.

(e) Be submitted before the Contest entry deadline.

Spektt reserves the right to disqualify any entry that violates these standards without notice.

7. JUDGING AND WINNER SELECTION

Winners are determined by one or more of the following methods, as specified in each Contest listing:

(a) Community VotingRegistered Spektt users cast one vote per Contest. Votes are recorded and verified. Vote manipulation, bot activity, or coordinated inauthentic voting will result in immediate disqualification of the benefitting entry and suspension of the offending accounts.

(b) Judge ScoringSelected judges score entries on stated criteria (e.g. creativity, technical quality, theme alignment). Judge scores are final.

(c) CombinedA weighted combination of community votes and judge scores, with the weighting stated in the Contest listing.

In the event of a tie, the entry submitted earliest wins.

Odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received.

8. PRIZES

(a) Pulse Contests: Winners receive digital prizes including badges, XP points, medals, and profile recognition. No cash value.

(b) Premium Contests: The exact prize amounts in Nigerian Naira (₦) are stated in each individual Contest listing. Approximate prize structure for a standard Premium Contest:

  • 1st Place: as stated in Contest listing
  • 2nd Place: as stated in Contest listing
  • 3rd Place: as stated in Contest listing

Prizes are non-transferable. No cash substitution or prize exchange is permitted, except at Spektt's sole discretion. Spektt is not responsible for any failure to receive prizes due to outdated contact information or bank details provided by the winner.

9. WINNER NOTIFICATION AND PRIZE CLAIM (PREMIUM CONTESTS)

(a) Winners will be announced on the Platform and notified via in-app notification and the email address registered to their account within 48 hours of the judging period closing.

(b) Winners have FOURTEEN (14) CALENDAR DAYS from the date of notification to respond and provide the required information (full legal name, bank account details, tax identification — see Section 10).

(c) Failure to respond within 14 days, failure to provide required documentation, or ineligibility of the original winner will result in the prize being forfeited. In such cases, the next highest-placed eligible entrant will be selected as the alternate winner, who will also have 14 days to claim.

(d) If no eligible winner claims the prize within 60 days of the original announcement, the prize will be donated to a registered charity at Spektt's discretion.

10. TAX COMPLIANCE (PREMIUM CONTESTS)

(a) Nigeria: Cash prizes are subject to withholding tax in accordance with Nigerian tax law. Spektt will withhold 10% of the gross prize amount and remit it to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) on behalf of the winner. Winners will receive a net prize (gross amount less 10% withholding). A Tax Clearance Certificate will be issued to the winner upon request.

(b) International winners: Winners outside Nigeria are solely responsible for reporting and paying all taxes applicable in their jurisdiction. By accepting a prize, you confirm that you understand and accept this responsibility.

(c) Spektt reserves the right to request a Tax Identification Number (TIN), National Identification Number (NIN), or equivalent document before releasing any cash prize.

11. ENTRY LICENCE

By submitting an entry, you grant Spektt a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, reproduce, and promote your entry on the Platform, on our website, and in our marketing materials for the purpose of promoting the Contest and the Platform. You retain full ownership of your work.

12. DISQUALIFICATION

Spektt reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who:

  • Submits work they do not own or have rights to
  • Engages in vote manipulation or any form of cheating
  • Violates these Official Rules or our Community Guidelines
  • Provides false or misleading information during registration or the claim process
  • Has been previously banned from the Platform

Disqualification decisions are final.

13. CONTEST MODIFICATIONS AND CANCELLATION

Spektt reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify any Contest at any time if fraud, technical failure, or any other event beyond our reasonable control compromises the integrity of the Contest, as determined by Spektt in its sole discretion. In the event of cancellation, no prizes will be awarded.

14. DISPUTES

Any dispute regarding these Official Rules, the conduct of a Contest, or the selection of winners must be submitted in writing to showdowns@spektt.com within SEVEN (7) DAYS of the winner announcement, including:

  • Your full name and registered email address
  • The specific Contest in question
  • A clear description of your claim
  • Any supporting evidence (screenshots, timestamps)

We will investigate and respond within 14 business days. Our determination is final and binding on all parties.

BY ENTERING A CONTEST, YOU WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND AGREE THAT ALL DISPUTES WILL BE RESOLVED BY BINDING ARBITRATION IN LAGOS, NIGERIA, ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. YOU WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY CLASS ACTION PROCEEDING.

15. GOVERNING LAW

These Official Rules are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any legal action relating to these Rules or any Contest must be brought exclusively in the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.

16. PRIVACY

Information collected from entrants is used solely for Contest administration and prize fulfilment, and is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

17. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SPEKTT AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM PARTICIPATION IN ANY CONTEST OR ACCEPTANCE OF ANY PRIZE.
