Community Guidelines

Effective Date: August 12th, 2026

Last Updated: August 12th, 2026

Spektt is built for creatives — photographers, videographers, 3D animators, sound engineers, and digital artists — to share real work and compete fairly. These guidelines exist so the platform stays worth posting to.

They apply everywhere on Spektt: uploads, Spotlights, comments, captions, profiles, Cluster posts, Showdown entries, and direct messages.

You must be 16 or older to use Spektt. Direct messaging and Showdown entry are 18+.

1. Post work that is yours

Only post content you created, or content you have the rights to post.

  • Reposting another creative's work as your own will get it removed.
  • Using copyrighted material without permission is not allowed.
  • If your work was posted by someone else without permission, email legal@spektt.com with the details and we will act.
  • For a plagiarised Showdown entry, report the entry with "Intellectual Property" and include a link to the original — or email showdowns@spektt.com directly.

2. Treat people as people

No harassment, bullying, threats, or repeated unwanted contact. No hate speech — content that promotes hatred based on race, religion, gender, or any other identity. No content targeting someone's ethnicity, religion, gender, or background.

Blocking is always available: go to the profile, open the three-dot menu, and choose Block. A blocked person cannot see your content, comment on your posts, or message you.

3. Keep it safe

Not allowed anywhere on Spektt:

  • Content that endangers or exploits minors, in any form
  • Content that promotes or glorifies self-harm or suicide
  • Real violence, gore, or disturbing imagery
  • Explicit nudity or sexual material
  • Promotion of illegal goods or services

Child safety and self-harm reports are treated as critical and reviewed first.

If you are struggling, please reach out to a local crisis line. We would rather you talk to someone than post about it.

4. Be who you say you are

One real person, one real account.

  • No impersonating another person, creative, or brand
  • No accounts that do not represent a real person
  • No accounts under the minimum age
  • If your account is compromised, reset your password immediately and contact support@spektt.com

5. Do not game the system

Spektt runs competitions with real prizes. Fairness is the product.

  • No vote manipulation, vote buying, or coordinated voting rings
  • No duplicate or multi-account entries
  • No advertising prizes you will not award
  • No rigged judging
  • No exploiting a bug for advantage — report it instead

Showdown integrity issues can be reported directly on the Showdown.

6. No spam

No repetitive posting, unsolicited promotion, link drops, fake giveaways, or artificially inflated engagement.

7. Do not spread harmful false information

Misinformation that could cause real-world harm will be removed.

8. Clusters have rules too

Clusters are community spaces. Every Cluster on Spektt carries these rules, and a Cluster admin can add rules on top but can never remove or override them:

RuleWhat it means
Be respectfulNo harassment, hate speech, or personal attacks toward any member
Keep it creativePosts must relate to the Cluster's creative focus
No spamNo repetitive posts, unsolicited promotion, or link drops
No NSFW contentExplicit or adult content isn't allowed on Spektt
No cash prizes hereClusters are community spaces — all competitions with prize money are hosted exclusively in Showdowns
Original work onlyOnly share content you created or have the rights to
No discriminationContent or comments targeting ethnicity, religion, gender, or background will not be tolerated
Follow Spektt guidelinesOur platform-wide rules always apply inside every Cluster

Cluster names and descriptions are screened. Names that promote hate, extremism, illegal activity, sexual exploitation of minors, or violence are blocked at creation. Names using protected brands require verification.

Cluster admins can appoint moderators once the Cluster is large enough. Moderators accept a separate set of moderator guidelines before they can act, and their powers are limited — a moderator cannot delete content that does not break the rules.

9. How reporting works

Tap the three-dot menu on any post, comment, Showdown, Showdown entry, or profile and select Report, then choose the reason that fits best. Reports are reviewed by real people, not only by automated systems.

How quickly we review, by severity:

SeverityExamplesTarget review time
CriticalChild safety, self-harmWithin 24 hours
HighHate speech, harassment, violence, nudity, impersonation, illegal goods, rigged judgingWithin 48 hours
MediumCopyright, false information, fake accounts, fake contestsWithin 72 hours
LowSpam, minor technical issuesWithin 7 days

Reporting someone does not tell them you reported them.

10. What happens when a rule is broken

Consequences scale with severity and history. We do not use a fixed strike count — serious violations skip straight to suspension.

  1. Content removal — the post, comment, or entry comes down.
  2. Warning — a formal warning you receive in the app and as a push notification. Warnings are recorded on your account and cannot be turned off in notification settings, because a warning you never see cannot change anything.
  3. Suspension — 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, or permanent. A timed suspension lifts automatically when it expires. While suspended you cannot use the app.
  4. Permanent ban — for the most serious violations, or repeated ones.

Separately, a Cluster admin or moderator can remove your post from their Cluster or remove you from that Cluster, without affecting your Spektt account.

11. Appealing

If your account is suspended you will see a screen explaining why, and you can appeal from that screen.

  • Up to 2 appeals per suspension. The second only unlocks if the first is declined.
  • An appeal must be between 50 and 1,000 characters — enough to actually explain.
  • A new suspension resets the count.
  • You cannot appeal while an appeal is already under review.

You can also email support@spektt.com with your username.
